I highly recommend listening to the interview with Lindsay Hinshelwood. She is an autoworker at Ford Oakville who ran for the presidency of the new union against the ‘old boys’ club’ that she says runs it, winning 18%.

Hinshelwood is a harsh critic of the two-tier wages that the CAW has begun to accept in the auto plants in Canada as well as other policies of the union. She says autoworkers in Canada have a lot to learn from the opposition movement in the UAW in the United States and the two should be working together closely to confront corporate power.
